BHS Robotics is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer Applications to join our growing team in Hanover Park, IL!SUMMARYThe Mechanical Engineer Applications is a critical business contributor, with responsibility for the review of customer specifications, developing concept layouts in Solidworks, creating proposal budgets and technical proposals.
Using best engineering practices with a consultative approach, the Mechanical Engineer Applications engages with sales staff, clients and the internal engineering departments to fully understand their needs and develop cost effective solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES o Review customer Request for Proposal specifications to identify feasibility and risk o Develop automated system concepts in Solidworks o Develop project budgets in Excel o Author detailed proposals in Word o Work closely with Account Managers throughout the proposal process.
o Participate in customer meetings and presentations as requested by the sales team o Qualify requests for quotation based on technical capabilities, capacity, and overall risk.
o Read, understand, and clarify all customer specifications and RFQ materials.
o Develop conceptual CAD layouts.
o Generate detailed budgets for all disciplines, contractors, materials, and manufactured items.
o Work with suppliers and partners to validate applicable technologies and obtain commercial quotes.
o Act as liaison for operational questions to ensure projects follow the prescribed scope and budgets.
o Keep current on industry and market trends, new technology, tools, and software.
o Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE o Minimum (5) years' experience in Mechanical Engineering with Solidworks design.
o Engineering degree with related technical experience in Automated Systems, packaging and assembly.
o Proficient in Solidworks, MS Word and Excel o Remote (WFH) position with periodic visits to home office as required for meetings.
o Occasional travel to customer locations (10%-20%).
COMPETENCIES o Proven expertise in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs.
o Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects at a time with impeccable attention to details.
o Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Working knowledge of engineering practices including design for manufacturability, maintainability, reliability, safety, and machine shop practices.
o Excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe role of the Mechanical Applications Engineer, while primarily an office-based position, does require the ability to engage in physical activities consistent with engineering environments.
This may include:
o Sitting for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
o Regular walking, bending, and standing to support projects on the shop floor or site visits.
o Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds when working with prototypes or machinery.
o Manual dexterity for handling small components during design or review processes.
o Visual acuity to accurately work on detailed drawings and to inspect equipment.
o Occasional travel to project sites (up to 20% of the time), which may require additional physical demands depending on the location.
o Candidates should be capable of fulfilling these physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations to carry out the essential functions of the role.
